In cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Global Collaboration Center held a seminar entitled "JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers’ Seminar" on October 4th at the seminar room on the 3rd floor of the Hisao & Hiroko TAKI PLAZA of Ochanomizu University and online. Ms. Mai Sato, a former Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) who was dispatched to Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan), Central Asia, to help local women in producing handicrafts using local resources, gave a presentation, and a representative of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Association (JOCA) provided an overview of JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers.

About 40 participants from Ochanomizu University, Tsuda University and Tokyo Woman's Christian University, with whom Ochanomizu University cooperates to support women's education in developing countries, listened attentively to Ms. Sato's talk. She talked about how she became interested in developing countries and about her activities and daily life in Kyrgyzstan, with showing beautiful photos of the four seasons in Kyrgyzstan. During the Q&A session in the second half of the lecture, participants asked a variety of questions, such as how to learn the local language, the gender situation in Kyrgyzstan, and the best thing about participating in JOCV.
