Foreign language learning seminars with foreign students

“Learning foreign languages with native speakers” is a course where the international students who are studying at the university teach their native language to others. The main purposes are to (1) cultivate teaching abilities in a global atmosphere, (2) enhance mutual understanding between international and Japanese students, and (3) provide international students with opportunities for volunteering or social action.

Japanese Culture Class

The Center offers various Japanese cultural classes such as Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), Kitsuke (Kimono dressing), Shodo (Japanese calligraphy), and a Kabuki study group. Any students are welcome to participate. Please make a reservation in advance.

Public Seminar

The Center organizes numerous public seminars, and invites scholars from all over Japan and the world to speak. The themes for these seminars include: Japanese language education, Japanese cultural understanding, and cross-cultural understanding.

Cross-cultural understanding seminar

The aim is to promote mutual cultural understanding between international and Japanese students studying at the university.

Japanese Teacher Training Seminar

The seminar provides an opportunity for current teachers of Japanese language to further develop and sharpen skills specific to teaching Japanese. This course it taught under the supervisions of Center scholars and the Japanese Language Education Course.
