Shanti Volunteer Association, a Long-term Ochanomizu Partner in Afghanistan Picture Book and Library Support, Awarded 28th Yomiuri International Cooperation Prize

We would like to congratulate the Shanti Volunteer Assosiation (SVA), which has just recieved the Yomiuri International Cooperation Prize. The Global Collaboration Center has worked with the SVA for many years through the Nonoyama Endowment for Women's Education in Afghanistan and Other Developing Countries. The Yomiuri International Cooperation Prize is given to individuals, groups, and companies demonstrating through various activities the importance of contributing to the international community.

* We have produced eight picture books together with the SVA since 2012. The books with which we have assisted tell stories with concepts like family, friendship, and trust. They are designed to raise awareness to provide a learning experience and literacy education to children who don’t attend school, as well as to realize a peaceful society, by, for example, increasing children’s knowledge about health, food, and nutrition.
