STUDY FOR TWO is a volunteer student organization with chapters at 40 universities across the country. Based on the core principles of "a world where every child who wishes to study can do so" and "a world where volunteering becomes accessible for me and for two," we collect donated textbooks, resell them affordably at the start of each semester, and allocate 80% of the profits to support education in developing countries.
Currently, the Ochanomizu University chapter of STUDY FOR TWO has 20 active members from the first to fourth year. Our main activities include weekly meetings, as well as twice-yearly textbook collection and sales activities. Additionally, in cooperation with the Living Together Study Group, we present an overview of our activities and specific support initiatives at the annual Kiin Festival.
With restrictions on activities lifted due to the novel coronavirus, we were able to conduct in-person activities more actively than last year. For our collection and sales activities, we leveraged the advantages of operating face-to-face while reaffirming our two core principles and incorporating various innovations. Many new initiatives presented unfamiliar challenges, but thanks to everyone's support, we successfully concluded this year's activities.
Additionally, we engaged with other chapters by strategically utilizing in-person and online formats. Through training camps and exchange meetings, we interacted with chapters nationwide, sharing advice on activities and concerns, which provided valuable inspiration for our future endeavors.
The Ochanomizu University chapter of STUDY FOR TWO is entering its 11th year, making it one of the organization's longest-standing branches. This year, we reviewed our past methods, identified areas in need of change, and planned accordingly. Next year, we plan to build on this year's achievements and improvements to further develop our activities.
Lastly, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the students and staff who consistently support our activities. We will continue to experiment and refine our approach through our efforts, striving to contribute, however modestly, to the education of children in developing countries and Japanese university students alike. We sincerely appreciate your continued support of STUDY FOR TWO.
