STUDY FOR TWO Academic Year 2024 Report

2025年4月1日更新

STUDY FOR TWO is a volunteer student organization with branches at 35 universities nationwide. Our activities center around two core principles: “A world where every child who wishes to study can do so” and “A world where volunteering with FOR ME, FOR TWO becomes accessible.” We collect textbook donations from students and resell them at prices below half the original cost at the start of each new semester. A portion of the proceeds from these textbook sales is donated to support educational activities for Japanese university students and children in developing countries.

Currently, the Ochanomizu University chapter has about 10 members from first to fourth year. Our main activities include weekly meetings, twice-yearly textbook sales, and collecting textbooks via collection boxes placed on campus and in dormitories. We also held a book flea market at the Kiin Festival, which attracted many visitors from inside and outside the university.

As a new initiative this year, we completely redesigned the decorations for our textbook collection boxes. Through discussions at meetings, we developed a design aimed at raising awareness of our activities among students and encouraging them to donate textbooks. We also focused on promotional efforts using the branch's SNS accounts, resulting in many students donating numerous textbooks throughout the year. While cherishing the traditions passed down over the branch's decade-plus history, we continue exploring ways to improve our daily activities, such as introducing new systems for sales and collection, and implementing new initiatives.

Thanks to many people who utilized our textbook sales and the Kiin Festival flea market, we sold a total of approximately 360 books over the year. Through the international NGO Room to Read, we donated over ¥200,000 to girls' education and literacy programs in Tanzania. As a result of our daily efforts, exceeding our sales target amount through the autumn sales and Kiin Festival greatly encouraged the entire branch.

STUDY FOR TWO became an NPO in 2024 and will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2025, aiming for further growth. The Ochanomizu University branch intends to build on its achievements and address areas for improvement to contribute more to the organization and support education in Japan and developing countries.

Lastly, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who consistently understands and supports our activities, including university students and staff. We are especially grateful to the Global Cooperation Center for their generous support, including providing space for our work and sales activities. We will strive to ensure your support is not wasted. We look forward to your continued support.
