Development of Leadership Training Program / Development and Practical use of Practice and an Education Effect Verification Index

  • About the Project
By expanding on the leadership education that the University has provided in undergraduate and graduate education, we develop and implement a leadership development program to strengthen the skills required for women to exercise global leadership. Along with this, we develop and utilize indicators to verify the effectiveness of education. In developing the program, emphasis will be placed on cultivating the skills (such as language, comprehension, and representation) and communication abilities necessary for global leaders, as well as on strengthening the ability to perceive different cultures and social trends from a gender studies perspective. Furthermore, in order to examine the effectiveness of the education, we develop and utilize the "Leadership Education Effect Verification Index", an index based on the competency evaluation program in the Career Design Program at the University, which enable students to realize their own growth and understand their challenges. We conduct research to develop an internationally accepted "Curricula for Training Female Leaders" and " Leadership Education Effectiveness Verification Index".

  • Project Achievements
    1)  Leadership Development Checklist

The University has established leadership development education courses (13 courses) in the Career Design Program (CDP) to develop leaders who can "Make a Difference" while collaborating with others.
The Institute for Global Leadership has been conducting a survey since 2017 to determine the extent to which students have acquired the skills that lead to the demonstration of leadership by taking the courses of CDP. Please click here to see the results of previous surveys.
In 2019, the previous survey items were reviewed and a new indicator, "Leadership Development Checklist," was created. This will not only measure the effectiveness of leadership development education courses, but also provide feedback to students so that they can identify their own issues after realizing their own growth. This checklist has been in operation since May 2020.

2) Competency Check Program (CCP)
The Institute for Global Leadership, the Center for Academic IR, Educational Development, and Learning, the Center for Student and Career Support cooperated to significantly renew the "My Portfolio" system, a pillar of learning in the Career Design Program, and in April 2020, launched the University's original "Competency Check Program" in the system within the Center for Academic IR, Educational Development, and Learning.
This program was designed for students in each of the target grades to assess their own competencies in order to know their own characteristics when they enter university (first year), at the turning point of their university life (third year), and at the end of their university life (final year).
The results of the self-assessment will be used by first-year students to confirm their status at the time of entering university and to set future academic goals, by third-year students to choose a career path based on an understanding of their own strengths, and by fourth-year students to confirm what characteristics their university life spent at the University has fostered.
The Competency Check Program consists of 175 items, 25 of which are "characteristics related to leadership skills" proposed by the Global Leadership Institute.
The 25 items include those related to gender, diversity, and women's career development, in addition to those generally required for leadership, such as "expressiveness" and "presentation skills".
Competencies are not necessarily defined as "excellent" even though students may have all positive results. This is because it is important to find out what traits and characteristics you have through this Checking Program and think about how to make the most of them.

The results of the survey and analysis will be posted as soon as they are compiled.
