Report on the Japan-Korea International Exchange Research Meeting

On March 27, 2025, four researchers from the Korean Women’s Development Institute visited our university, and a Japan-Korea International Exchange Research Meeting was held.
The day’s program was as follows:

  1. Opening Remarks – Etsuko Saito, Director of Institute for SDGs Promotion
  2. Presentation: “About the SDGs Promotion Institute” – Kenji Waku, Project Manager, Institute for SDGs Promotion
  3. Presentation: “The Impact of Care Robots and ICT Devices on the Wage Satisfaction of Care Workers” – Mizuki Ochida, First-Year Master’s Student
  4. Presentation: “ICT, AI, and Robotics in Elder Care in China: Use Cases and Gender Issues” – Hao Wenjia, Second-Year Doctoral Student
  5. Closing Remarks – Kenji Waku, Project Manager, Institute for SDGs Promotion

Following each presentation, there was an active Q&A session with members of the Korean Women’s Development Institute, during which insights were exchanged on research fields and country-specific contexts.
In particular, declining birthrates, aging populations, and elder care were acknowledged as common challenges in Japan, Korea, and China.
Discussions on the use of ICT devices in these areas continued informally over lunch after the meeting.

The SDGs Promotion Institute at Ochanomizu University will continue to collaborate with overseas universities and research institutions and remain committed to forward-looking research initiatives.
