Examination of the implementation of evaluation guidelines for sex/gender analysis in academic journals in Japan.
This project aims to realize a genuinely diverse and inclusive society. It will be conducted under a government-funded third-phase SIP Project titled “Creation of New Ways of Learning and Working in a Post-COVID-19 Era” (FY2023–FY2027).

Fujitsu and IGI established the “Fujitsu-Ochanomizu University Social Collaboration Program for AI Ethics” on March 1, 2023. (Press release is here.)
This collaborative research aims to develop an AI solution for highly reliable human resource assessment by examining the ethical risks of AI from the perspective of gendered innovations.
Mitsui Fudosan and Ochanomizu University have established a comprehensive agreement regarding the promotion of industry–academia collaboration with the aim to help realize a society in which women can demonstrate their individuality and abilities. This collaboration also intends to resolve social issues based on the concept of gendered innovations using the resources of both parties and collaborations in research, human resource development, and social communications (news release).
Collaborative Research Program
Focusing on women’s entrepreneurship, this collaborative program supports gendered innovation studies, disseminates information to promote the concept of gendered innovations, and implements gendered innovations in society. Women’s entrepreneurship is on the rise and may hold the seeds for new innovations. This program will examine the characteristics of female entrepreneurs, particularly their work–life balance, relation with life events, and required support. It will also apply research outcomes for entrepreneurship support and new architecture and urban planning that suits the work and life of women entrepreneurs.

The Academic Consultation Program with Sunshine City Corporation started in March 2024. In this program, Associate Professor Mamiko Fujiyama provides Sunshine City Corporation with her expertise on Gendered Innovations.
The academic consultation includes providing advice on improving the convenience of shared spaces in the Sunshine City building and planning and implementing the company's urban development plan in the surrounding area.
IGI aims to foster "women innovators" and offer classes and seminars on Gendered Innovations for students to learn how to turn ideas into products and services.

Since June 2023, IGI has provided academic consultation services to RICOH Company, Ltd., led by Prof. Yuji Ohta, a deputy director of IGI. This collaboration supports working people using technology developed from the perspectives of sex/gender differences and diversity.

Ochanomizu University’s Enhancement Project for Creating Innovations, funded by the Cabinet Office of Japan, solicited a research grant application in 2022. In July 2022, Hitachi Consulting Co., Ltd. and SASAKI Narie who Project Professor of IGI have jointly launched a research project on Gendered Innovations.
Research: (1) Organize examples of gendered innovations in Japan, (2) Survey industry-academic policies, and (3) Examine the process of introducing intersectional analysis.
