Research on Learning and Working Practices for D&I Society

2024年6月25日更新

This project aims to realize a genuinely diverse and inclusive society. It will be conducted under a government-funded third-phase SIP Project* titled “Creation of New Ways of Learning and Working in a Post-COVID-19 Era” (FY2023–FY2027) through participation in Sub-Project B, namely, “Connecting ‘New Ways of Learning’ with New Ways of Working.” By conducting two empirical studies entitled “Survey Regarding High School Students’ Choice of College Majors” and “Housework-assisting Technology for the Diversity and Inclusion of Knowledge and Experiences,” we will develop the knowledge required to make new ways of learning and working feasible in society and to enhance public awareness regarding diversity and inclusion.

Research Projects

[Empirical Research 1] Survey Regarding High School Students’ Choice of College Majors

This research aims to promote diversity in education and make new ways of learning feasible in society. We intend to propose measures for accelerating the development of women scientists and engineers in Japan. To this end, we will conduct large-scale online surveys of high school students regarding their preference for college majors, the extent of freedom they have to make their choices, and the influence of their teachers and families on their decision-making.

[Empirical Research 2] Housework-assisting Technology for the Diversity and Inclusion of Knowledge and Experiences

This research aims to develop a foundation for innovations aimed at creating a gender-equal society that discards conventional gender roles and allows individuals to maintain work–life balance. To enhance public awareness and D&I realization in society, we will assess work-from-home environments, examine changes in gender roles at home, and propose methods for assisting with housework based on gendered innovations.
