Outline
Opportunities in the workplace are opening for Japanese women as never before, as Japan sets policies to increase the number of female leaders. The Japanese government has set ambitious targets for women in management and the boardroom, but these goals are well above today’s reality and well behind most of the world.
In this presentation, I will share my experiences as a corporate executive and board member in New York and in Tokyo. I will compare what it is like to work in a major global company in Japan and how it is different from other countries. The “Japanese Traditional Company” is evolving in response to the accelerating “mega-trends” in society, but challenges remain to gender equity.
I will discuss the skills needed to succeed in a global organization and how women’s colleges uniquely prepare students on campus and in life.
