Outline
To pray one’s happiness is very important not only as an element but also as a presentation in Japanese culture. We call this kind of lucky customs as an Omedetai culture. And Daikagura is one of the performance which is filled with Omedetai symbols.
In this lecture, Michiyo Kagami, the professional Daikagura artist explains about Omedetai culture and Daikagura history from the Japanese mythology era to the present day. Of course you can enjoy her performance. After this lecture, you can find this beautiful country studded with happy icons.
Michiyo KAGAMI
Michiyo Kagami is a Daikagura performer. She graduated from International Christian University (Tokyo, Japan) and began working at a PR agency. After her career as a corporate employee, she entered the Training center of Japanese traditional arts in National Theater and had training for 3 years. In addition to Daikagura technique she learned to play Japanese musical instruments like Shamisen (Japanese banjo-like musical instrument), drums and flutes. After graduating there, she joined Rakugo Geijutsu Association as an apprentice of Bonbon Brothers, the Daikagura master.
