OCHA-SDGs Action Award 2022 was held 

The OCHA-SDGs Action Award 2022 was held via ZOOM on Monday, March 27,2023. The event was held with the participation of Student Committee members, Institute’s director FUJIWARA,Project Professor KASAMATSU, Project Research Fellow KAWASAKI, Visiting Professor KONAKA, Research Collaborator ARITOMO and the Institute’s Academic Assistants. 

The OCHA-SDGs Action Award is an event where Student Committee members present their SDG activities made in 2022 and future activity plans for 2023, and vote for the best. 

The members are divided into the ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) group, the Environment group, and the Food group. 

In 2022, each group was divided into the following teams and reported their activities.

ESD Team: SDGs Monthly Unit, SDGs Awareness Survey, Study Session Planning Unit, etc. 

Environment Team: Let's Drink Tap Water Project, Plastic Collection Project, Vegan Study Session, etc. 

Food Group: Setsubun* and food loss project, plant milk tasting event, cooperation with university co-op, edible insects tasting event, etc. 

The details of each initiative will be introduced in an article for each group in due course.

With the feedback of Visiting Professor KONAKA and Director FUJIWARA (Professor of the Department of Food and Nutrition) after each team's presentation and after a final vote, the winning teams were determined as follows: 

【Grand Prix】: Monthly SDG Promotion Team 

【Runner-up Grand Prix】: Study Session Planning Unit, Cricket (Edible Insect Food) Tasting, Setsubun* Planning 

【Director FUJIWARA’s Award】: Plastic Collection Project (contact lens & cap collection) 

Awards will be presented to each winning team at the first regular meeting of the Student Committee with the new director for the coming academic year. 

*Setsubun...one of seasonal events in Japan where a lot of beans are consumed
