Report on Energy-Saving Stickers Posted inside Campus
Ochanomizu University's Climate Citizens' Assembly x OCHA-SDGs Student Committee
In March 2023, OCHA-SDGs Student Committee created energy-saving stickers. The energy-saving stickers were one of the ideas proposed by students through Ocha-dai Climate Citizens' Assembly(J) held in FY2022.
※CO2 emissions from two air conditioners operating for 90 minutes
≒ CO2 emissions from manufacturing and incinerating 12 plastic bags (10g/sheet)
Ocha-dai Climate Citizens' Assembly(J) was held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, and was attended by students enrolled in “Life and Environment 10: Environmental Problems and Society(J)” (second semester of FY2022).
Students discussed familiar environmental measures that students can take together with the university in their campus life, and eventually submitted their proposals to the university. OCHA-SDGs Student Committee decided to create energy-saving stickers that are easy to realize among the proposals the university's authority agreed to put into practice.
In addition to these stickers, Campus Tap Water Map and a poster for the hot water supply room, both of which OCHA-SDGs stundent comittee members have been in the works for some time, will also be displayed. We believe that this will help promote frequent hydration without only relying on plastic beverages.
Meticulous judgment and care in the use of air conditioners and elevators are now common knowledge among Generation Z. Institute will continue to provide whatever support we can to the future generation's struggle to seek “good for the earth” in an industrial society of ever-advancing convenience.
