On October 23, 2024, the Circular Economy Salon, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Public Corporation, was held at Kudan-Kaikan Terrace (Chiyoda City, Tokyo).
Students from Ochanomizu University, Senshu University, Tokyo University of Agriculture, and Japan Women's University took to the stage to give presentations on the initiatives being taken by university students to reduce food loss and waste.

【Contents】 Introduction of examples of university students' activities regarding food loss and waste and Exchange of opinions
【Purpose】 With the aim of realizing a circular economy, students who are working to reduce food loss and waste in the next generation that will lead Tokyo in the future take the stage, share their thoughts and activities related to the circular economy, and exchange opinions with participants from companies and local governments to create a space for exchange.
The following titles were presented at the conference as the institute's initiative to reduce food loss and waste.
1) Evaluation of the “OchaEco Bento(lunchboxes)” initiative to reduce food loss and waste at the university co-op cafeteria*
2) Interview survey of farmers regarding non-standard vegetables

After the presentations, there was time to exchange opinions, and we could have a lively discussion with participants from companies and local governments.
After the event, many people approached us to talk about the presentations and the activities of OCHA-SDGs Student Committee, making it a valuable opportunity for exchange.
Institute for SDGs Promoiton will continue to work to reduce food loss and waste from the perspective of consumers.
