<Event Report>

In the first lesson, I learned that even the letters we see every day can be difficult for people with dyslexia or low vision to read and write, and I wanted to be able to create text that is easy for everyone to read. As key points for creating materials, we learned the importance of prioritizing the information you want to convey, using different font sizes to emphasize different points, using fonts as they are without adding shadows or angles, and leaving appropriate line spacing. I realized that you could create documents that convey information briefly just by being creative with the fonts you use, even without using colors. Through this course, I was able to gain a perspective that made me aware of how to convey information so that it is understood by others, rather than just “telling” them.

In the second installment, we learned that the fonts we use so casually every day are created through a number of processes. We learned that not only is the balance of each character adjusted, but also that detailed adjustments are made to ensure that the font is easy to read when used in phrases and sentences, and that the font is thoroughly designed to be easy to read. We also learned that the characteristics of each element of a font are expressed in the image it gives, and that by choosing a font after learning about these characteristics, it becomes easier to choose a font that matches the image, and that this makes it possible to more accurately convey one's intentions and thoughts to the at other person.

About 30 students and faculty members from the university attended each session, and the event was a great success. Thank you as well to everyone who watched via ZOOM.
