Creating a place for LGBTQ people "LGBTea+ lounge"
Report on Activity Support by Institute for SDGs Promotion
From June to October 2023, "LGBTea+ lounge" was held once a week in classrooms on campus, and OCHA-SDGs Student Committee backed the event and assisted with publicity and implementation.
"LGBTea+ lounge(J)" provided a place for LGBTQ and allies to huddle, chat, and enjoy recreation.
The project was conducted as a thesis research project by Prof. Keiichiro Ishimaru and seminar student Mako Inada, and reported the results that the users who regularly participated in such a heartwarming place actually showed an increased sense of psychological acceptance and decreased sense of rejection.
The Institute conducted SDGs Research Grant in FY2023 and supported assisting Ms. Inada of OCHA-SDGs Student Committee through the grant to Prof. Ishimaru, who supervised this study.
The student committee members who participated in the whereabouts event told that it was a meaningful opportunity for them to deepen their interest in LGBTQ+ issues.
