Report on a Home Economics Class at the Affiliated Junior High School
Using IoT Home Appliances and Research Support
Becaus it was in line with the aims and objectives of the institute, we provided support for research expenses and lesson planning for "Junior High School Home Economics Classes to Create and Explore Sustainable and Prosperous Lifestyles" by Ms. Aiko Aritomo, a teacher at the affiliated junior high school, who is a research collaborator of the institute.
We conducted a cooking class for meat and potatoes with junior high school students and compared two different cooking methods: cooking with IoT appliances and traditional gas-fired cooking. Institute for SDGs Promotion arranged for some of the IoT appliances to be used during the cooking.
In addition, to conduct a questionnaire survey on how the junior high school students felt through the cooking practice, we supported to create a questionnaire to be used during the class, develop a research plan to summarize this class as a research project, and prepare for submitting ethics application documents.
